All UK driving
instructors are registered with the Driving Standards Agency (DSA)

It is a criminal offence for anyone who is not registered to charge for driving lessons.
There are two grades of DSA registered instructor.
PDI (Potential Driving Instructor).
These are part-trained, operate on a trainee licence and must display a pink badge in the windscreen when teaching.
ADI (Approved Driving Instructor).
These are fully qualified driving instructors, have passed all 3 parts of the DSA examination, and must display a green badge in the windscreen when teaching.
