All UK driving instructors are registered with the Driving Standards Agency (DSA)
and are required to undergo a check with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)
before being allowed on the register.
It is a criminal offence for anyone who is not registered to charge for driving lessons.

There are two grades of DSA registered instructor.

PDI (Potential Driving Instructor).

These are part-trained, operate on a trainee licence and must display a  pink badge in the windscreen when teaching.

ADI (Approved Driving Instructor).

These are fully qualified driving instructors, have passed all 3 parts of the DSA examination, and must display a green badge in the windscreen when teaching.

Ask to see your instructors badge and check it's expiry date.

You should choose an instructor that offers a professional service. Click the box below for more information.
